Island Book of Records Page 8

Yes, more Fairports. Has Richard Thompson been on more albums than any other English person ever? Is he the British Neil Young? What's with the Muslim schtick? Resisting hyperbole (right!) he will become regarded as one of the most important influences of the popular music in the 20th Century. Just not quite yet.

Genesis tickets through the years

Genesis concerts. Missing a Peter Gabriel-lead show in 1974 from the "Selling England by the Pound" tour at the New Theatre, Oxford, England, which I guess would have been in the one pound sterling range. The New York Beacon show, Phil Collins's first tour as lead singer on the "Trick of the Tale" tour, was a $6.50 ticket (1976). The Hammersmith Odeon show on the same tour was the equivalent of $4 in exchange rates of the time. The 1977 "Seconds Out" show at Earl's Court could roughly be translated as a $10 ticket. The 1980 tour at Madison Square Garden -- worst seats in the house -- $8.50. 2007 Madison Square Garden best seats, $275. Will post the ticket when I can find it!
