The Dogs Are Back! Hudson, New York art dogs

For the second year, the dogs are back.

All those social networks, so few waking hours!

So, I guess we are all figuring out what makes sense for what.  Meaning, when and where do the different social network portals kick in most effectively?  I have this blog which is a record of things that make me happy.  I also maintain with the BW a blog that keeps a record of our garden in Southern Columbia County, NY (SoCoCo), that also makes me happy.

I have a Facebook account, which I have to admit to playing on quite passively.  I have connected with one or two people from my past -- like 30 years past! which is amazing -- but it primarily seems to be a string of minimally interesting posts from people I probably don't need to hear that much from.  I am getting the hang of the office Facebook account which is progressing beyond being another conduit for our press releases and a distribution method for print and broadcast clips about our clients.  

I have two Twitter accounts, beyond the office account.  The idea is to have one that focuses on my thoughts and news about the theatre, and another that follows a more eclectic path, similar to the scrap book that this blog has become.  

The immediacy and disposability of Twitter is both leveling and concerning:  It took me a while to realize, you don't have to see everything on Twitter.  It is a Polaroid snapshot of a time that has a lifespan of  hours or minutes.  It is also how I first heard that Michael Jackson was dead and that Sarah Palin was resigning as Governor of Alas-kar.  Twitter is a great democratizer.  It gives awesome power of communication, with no responsibility, more than any social network to this point.  It reduces all information to the same value in 140 characters.  It is the ultimate spoiler.

Oh, there's also an office blog that keeps a steady stream of information available and grows in value as a reference archive -- it also helps save trees.

I find it all quite exhilarating and there are not enough hours in the day to deal with it.  How will this all shake out?

Almost 46,000 songs and 126 days of music. This is getting hard. Just loaded in Elton John's Empty Sky, 1995 Rocket (Universal) reissue.

Last Man in the Hammersmith Palais

I just finished watching Richard Weller's BBC documentary about The Hammersmith Palais.  Narrated by Suggs (Madness), there is some amazing footage, including Ross McManus (Elvis Costello's father) talking about playing there and a funny interview with Mick Jones (Clash, Big Audio Dynamite, Carbon/Silicon).  The last concert at the Palais was on March 31, 2007.  If you can track down this film it is well worth seeing.

Last Visit to Virgin Times Square, I think...

Went in there a couple of days ago. Feels rather sordid. Fixtures ripped from the walls and dirty. I think I am done. Here was the final haul:

French Bulldog Update
